This event demonstrates, through the medium of the theatre and drama, how responsible leadership in the arts can effectively communicate messages found in the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The event also addresses the critical challenges the arts face in terms of responsible leadership in such matters as encouraging diversity, engaging in ethical governance practices, and addressing the funding shortfalls of this area that have occurred in both the pandemic and the current economic crisis.

Health Professions in a Changing World: The Need for Responsible Leadership

The professions in general have faced many challenges over the past few decades – from clients and citizens, the state, and corporations and organisations. These challenges, along with shifts in technology, apply no less to the health professions which are central to our wellbeing – as highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

UNITAR together with the Institute for Responsible Leadership (IRL) are co-hosting this webinar, which will aim to explore the role of health professionals and that of responsible leadership in a changing world. Although the webinar will focus on modern neo-liberal societies, it also considers the sometimes different and more extreme challenges faced by health professions in low- to middle-income countries. In so doing, it asks questions about the leading role that health professions may play globally in the future.

Innovation and Responsible Leadership: Strategic Imperatives

Innovation Leadership is about activating key critical behaviours and expressing the appetite for risk (the acceptable risk tolerance). In a crisis, responsible leadership is about taking personal ownership, even though many challenges and factors lie outside ones control. Innovation remains an active ingredient for managing uncertainty through sprint experimentation, to identify new ways of thinking, establish new strategic imperatives that reflect and reconcile shifts in customer needs and behaviours, assures ecosystem integrity and instils organisational resilience and sustainability.

This session will address the following:

- The inextricable link between Innovation and Leadership

- Understanding your organisational purpose and identity

- How to manage with clarity to manage ambiguity

- Scenario plan a post COVID-19 future

- The basics for creating an adaptive capability

- The behaviours of "Innovation and Responsible Leadership”

Responsible Leadership and Climate Change

October 14th at 4.00pm English time

An overwhelming 97% of scientists agree that climate change is being caused by human greenhouse gas emissions. The planet is warming and action is needed. We can fix this but only with responsible and effective leadership.

Responsible Leadership in Schools and Colleges

UNITAR and the Institute for Responsible Leadership (IRL) have joined forces again for this special webinar entitled "Responsible leadership in schools and colleges", which will explore the importance of responsible leadership within educational settings. The panel consists of speakers who will discuss education and the role of leadership internationally.

Leadership in educational settings is essential, both during and afer Covid, to ensure that children and young people are supported to regain some of the education lost due to the pandemic. This is also a time for opportunity and innovation to pave the way to improve education for all post-Covid.

Trust and responsible leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic

Jun 18, 2020 04:00 PM (London time)

Rarely before has a crisis of such scale impacted so many, in such a short time, across our planet. This is an unprecedented challenge to our societies, which humanity must face together.

Governments around the world are acting and trying to identify the best way to overcome the health crisis and its social, as well as economic consequences.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we hosted a special virtual dialogue amongst practitioners from the UK, Switzerland and Kenya. Watch the recording to see experts share their views on the crisis from the social and responsible leadership perspective.

Public Sector Crisis Management During the Coronavirus Pandemic

The world is facing additional challenges because of COVID-19 since the end of 2019. As time passes, this cross-cutting problem has presented adverse effects everywhere, no matter the stage of development of countries. It has put all administrative, judicial, security and health systems at test, as it affects the political, economic, social, and cultural life of individuals and societies - as a whole. In this framework, governments have managed their own in-country crisis with several different approaches or models.

The role of different stakeholders has also been unalike in several countries and is a cornerstone element that can make the difference through positive initiatives towards mitigating or even tackling the effect of this crisis. This event brings together representatives from these key stakeholder groups to discuss how public servants' continuous engagement towards results and provision of services represents on standing expectations of societies, even more in times of crisis. This webinar is co-hosted by faculty members from Kennesaw State University in the US and from the University of Suffolk in the UK.

UNITAR appreciates the support provided by the Institute for Responsible Leadership.

COVID-19 and Global Youth Leadership

According to the 2018 World Youth Report, 1.2 billion people are aged between 15-24 years and it is predicted that this number will grow by 7% by 2030. Youth are hardly ‘the future’: they are ‘the now’.

In the face of the current COVID-19 pandemic, this event brings together inspiring young leaders and experts from around the world. They will share their unique insights and practical examples of how youth are an active part of the global response to the pandemic.

Join us and the 17-year old founder of the world’s most popular coronavirus-tracking site ncov2019.live, a Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia laureate, a 21 year old United Nations Green Ticket recipient, and many more at this exciting event.
