Professor Sa’ad Medhat

Professor Sa’ad Medhat MPhil, PHD, CEng, FCIM, FIET, FIKE, FIoD, FRSA is the Chief Executive of the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange with national/international branches. A chartered engineer by background who holds several patents and has founded nine businesses, he is a member of the ISO International Committee setting International Innovation Standards. He is also Visiting Professor at the University of Suffolk and Plymouth Marjon University in the UK and founder of the STEM Foundation, an educational charity and think-tank supporting the professional development of science, engineering and technology.

Sa’ad Medhat is well published and has served as a governor of six colleges in the UK.  As a former Director of the Engineering and Technology Board, he instigated and shaped the transformation of the Professional Registration of Engineers and Technologists. He is a member of the UK Parliamentary and Scientific Committee that helps influence the impact of new and emerging technologies on policy and society. He also served on the UK Higher Education Funding Council’s committee for Quality Assessment. He strongly believes in active responsible leadership to improve the quality of life and deliver economic value and social benefit. 

Internationally, he was the founding Principal/Chief Executive of Dubai University. He introduced co-education in the UAE, as well as international accreditations to provide progression from high school to PhD level. As Vice President/President of a NASDAQ-listed technology company, he has led international business transformation and was the IBM Professor of Current Engineering (worldwide) and the Intergraph Chair of Electronic Design Automation. When Head of the School of Electronics and Director of the Research Office at Bournemouth University, amongst other things, he was a member of the UNESCO Science Committee; led UNDP e-learning educational programmes; drove the Euro-Chip initiative for Eastern European countries; advised the European Parliament; and served on the UK-Dubai Economic Development Committee.
